The fact is the higher you move up an organization, the less likely you’ll hear about development opportunities that can make you more effective. Feedback becomes increasingly filtered until all you hear are the “good things” that you’re doing. Smart businesspeople realize that this silence does not imply that all is well. Creating an environment and a system where the feedback all the way to the top is honest, unbiased, delivered appropriately, and actionable is an extreme challenge to virtually all organizations.
